@blp @cmhobbs Yeah, if you're just running a couple of tens of metres it doesn't matter. If you use Cat6 you'll be more likely to get performance when the world upgrades to 10 Gbit/s networking, but as long as consumer equipment is only 1Gbit/s and your cabling doesn't get near the max rated 100m you're fine with Cat5e.
But as said, if you're buying new cabling, go with Cat6 anyway. And don't damage it along the way ;)
