@tregeagle I tried the 'Pedometer' that was GPLv3-or-later. Based on a 3½ hour shift this afternoon + ~20 min commute each way, it reports 8352 steps and 6.27km. This is based on a 75cm stride length which I rounded down to a nice fraction of a meter from the average for a chap my height (80-something, according to the Internet). But of course that all assumes recreational, lycra-clad, sport-shoe-shod strides along paths built for that purpose, rather than hopping around potholes, drainage ditches, railroad tracks, etc. in my mandatory safety boots (the big black clown shoes of pain), or pushing a trolley with a load of up to 150kg. I think therefore I can ignore the estimate of how many calories I'm burning.
