I hope it is. I must admit that I use social media to shamelessly promote my books, but I have become much more concerned with privacy issues in the last several years. When I stopped working at Google in 2013 the first thing I did was write a long blog article on how to protect some semblance of privacy wile using Google+, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

But, simply using freedom/privacy loving systems like GNU Social makes more sense than jumping through hoops to avoid being tracked when using commercial social media.
