@infogab I used to be a forensic psychologist myself (for the local police service at the time).  (Master of Science with a major in Psych FWIW)  It's why I get as bothered by those that really don't have a significant mental illness bending the definition in a way to try to gain social credit, because I've seen firsthand as basically the last stop on the line people often reach out to the effect that has - and it isn't pretty.

We lionize attention-seeking personalities at the very real cost of so many people that struggle daily.  We are "inspired" by the "battles" that these people publicly have when looking for attention (and there probably ARE elements of NPD or HPD in there, don't get me wrong), over those whom silently just hang themselves.  And if and when someone does have a relapse, THEYRE the problem, because they're not, as you say "doing it right".
