So how do you get them to switch to free software then?
Well, that's kind of simple really. You find an alternative that does the same things (at the time this was OpenOffice, it's since been split off into LibreOffice), but is *free*, as in beer. It suddenly became very easy to get the company to change over to using OpenOffice when I explained to the CFO that OpenOffice does most of the same things just as well, for the low, low price of free, when they were paying literally hundreds of thousands of dollars in licensing fees to Microsoft.
Know the people you're appealing to and appeal to the things they care about and you'll get places. Mindlessly shoving dogma everywheres doesn't.
