I think most software companies would find if they didn't have the Digital Restrictions Management and respected the Four Freedoms they might not make their "suggested retail price" with every sale but most of the people whom otherwise freeload with their software would be happy to give you some of their money.

I mean, as a comparative example, I buy music from many more musicians who allow "name your own price" pricing than flat rate, because I can afford to legally buy that music and listen to it, and tend to do it from Blood Music, which allows free listening anyways.  Why would I go to piracy, even if it's legal in Canada, if there's someone that I can 100% get music for in a way where I can still support the artists, albeit in a small way that's within my means?
