There's a lot to be said for ease of use and of the many microblogging packages I played with before settling on GNU social (and then eventually forking it into my own project!), well, GNU social was the one that I found the easiest to use by a wide margin.  Though Friendica was probably the best-programmed seeming one I found the interface hard to acclimate to.  It would probably be easier for someone that used Facebook, but I would rather take bath in hydrochloric acid than use Facebook, so...
