Moreover, the impression I get about many bands big and small is once theyre in these corporate silos they no longer care about reaching the audience that exists outside them - in some cases, even if that's their main audience.  And if the band says 'fuck you' to me, I don't really care not to respond in kind, especially in Canada where downloading music is entirely, 100% legal (just not uploading it without permission)
