When I did my occasional music writing I actually tried to avoid reviewing stuff that was Black metal and the surrounding genres because I'm generally predisposed to like most stuff that isn't complete shit in that genre unless there's genuinely objectively-bad problems like shit production, but Damnation and a Day was trying to do the operatic metal of something like Nightwish/Kamelot/Epica/et al and it just didn't fit them at all.  The end result was some bastard music that kind of defies classification as anything but just "shit"
