@moonman @gameragodzilla It's basically the next step up.  "Okay, we can't have direct democracy, so what we'll do is have a consensus from each group (state) and we vote for president based on that"

As an underlying concept, that's fine.  The real problem is that americans that do vote are voting just based on the perception of which is going to win, at least the majority of them are, because they want that social status and feeling of power from that, rather than voting on principle.  While I know there's people who did vote on principle such as the present company, you guys are by far the majority.

The Founding Fathers stressed that for the Union to work the population needed to be highly-educated and informed on political issues.  And that, right now, is the United States' problem, I'd say.  Most of them are not at all informed, and many are poorly-educated.
