Practically speaking, that means a medical bill. if he did assault her and she went to the hospital immediately after this actually wouldn't be hard to establish but it would be small claims court stuff at best. You can't claim "emotional distress" for this kind of thing with only a preponderance of evidence. The evidentiary standard is higher for that. It requires "beyond a reasonable doubt".
