@sulman @gameragodzilla Honestly, much of the recent resurgence of this is, in my opinion, a result of growing economic and financial stress on people.  It is, after all, tremendously comforting if we can find some dogma or ideology that teaches us we are not to blame for our present situation.  Identity politics has filled that niche, much to the detriment to society as a whole.

What I don't understand is why so many people feel it's neccesary.  There are clear and present things that have spelled our downfall - the collusion of banks and the upper class to push down the less wealthy for one - but the class struggle is, after all, quite real, I suppose.
