Looking at the map, it seems that the highest per capita death zones are in the Northeast and a sweep across the South from # eastward. @clacke recently posted some graphics with similar statistics for European nations and their subdivisions. I’ll link his posts into this thread.

Remember, raw numbers are deceptive. The United States is the 3rd most populous nation on the planet. If we don’t look at some population-adjusted numbers, we’ll believe the country is doing far worse relative to other nations than it actually is.
