@geniusmusing Oh, yeah. Ours was pretty awful. Flavor was like they poured canned tomato sauce (without any added spices) on a thick slab of undercooked dough, then sprinkled generic grated cheese on top. Made in giant square pans. If you got the edges, half your "slice" was burnt. As you got closer to the center, your slice was progressively less cooked.
I hadn't heard the "mystery meat" term at the time, but the "pepperoni" didn't taste like anything I'd ever eaten elsewhere.
