From seeing all these “Jake from State Farm” commercials, I have a couple of questions.

First of all, they re-cast the character. A few years ago, Jake was portrayed by a different actor. Why re-cast? (Seriously ... it is unusual to replace your central character’s actor and still continue the series.) I guess the implication is that any employee that answers calls himself / herself “Jake”.

Secondly, is it common for people to call insurance company call centers in the middle of the night? Without consulting one’s spouse?
