Today, I discovered # ( https://www.open-mesh.org/projects/alfred/wiki ).

A.L.F.R.E.D. — Almighty Lightweight Fact Remote Exchange Daemon — is definitely a “backronym”. Alfred is a user space daemon for distributing arbitrary local information over a mesh (or other?) network in a decentralized fashion. As one might guess, it was originally created to run across Batman-Advanced mesh networks.

For people who don’t know the joke, in the 1960s Batman TV series, Alfred was Bruce Wayne’s butler (Bruce Wayne was Batman). Batman is the name of a mesh networking technology (well, two, if you count Batman Advanced separately).
