@geniusmusing The person who wrote that is over-eager with the term "depression". Even the (unmentioned) 1998-1999 recession, with after-effects that lasted a decade, doesn't even qualify. I'd say the 2008-2011 recession was borderline, it could easily have become something that we'd still be in today.
And of course 1929 was a depression. But the others were not nearly severe enough nor long lasting enough.
The current downturn is likely to rival the 1929 "Depression of the 1930s" unless they get their heads out and focus on delivering assistance to the regular everyday formerly working American.
