@musicman “I can’t see dead zones happening in Minneapolis”

One would hope not. Be aware that many (if not most) small businesses lack fire insurance, and most insurance policies exclude civil disturbances anyway. That mean Twin Cities people will have to actively participate in rebuilding burned communities.

“... everyone here is sick of the police.”

Good. Then there will be plenty of political will for enforcing changes and restrictions on them and fighting their union’s efforts to prevent officers from paying the price for their misconduct.

However, the riots are not just in the Twin Cities area. They are nationwide, and most cities do not have what you said Minneapolis has. In the early 2000s, I saw areas of Los Angeles that were still devastated from the 1990s Rodney King riots.

They aren’t just burning police precinct buildings and squad cars in oppressive areas (understandable and justified!). They’re burning homes, businesses, vehicles. And that’s why I say it is not acceptable to cheer or encourage the destructive and violent part ... protests, yes. Destroying communities, no.
