A zillion years ago when I was in high school:
Went to the local swimming pool with my brother's friend P. Got cold, so I got out. These businessmen from Taiwan were sitting nearby and struck up a conversation.
.
"What mean 'fork'?", one asked. We'd brought lunch, so we had plastic utensils. P showed them a fork.
.
"What mean 'push'?", the businessman asked. I pushed P to demonstrate.
.
"What mean 'pen-iss'?", was the next question. Suddenly, a light came on. We were on our bikes and racing home within a couple of minutes.
.
P's family moved to farm country a year or so later, after he and my neighbor F (F was Taiwanese; his dad knew the businessmen above) were almost arrested for throwing rocks at cars on the nearby freeway.
