I started with arcade games, where longevity was a result of gaining skill. You'd clear a maze / screen / cloud of invaders / level and be rewarded by going on to the next one. For me, there was rarely a game that lasted fifteen minutes. When I play some games on the console, everything takes a longer time ... I frequently get frustrated and just shut the game off in the middle because something is taking too long.

The only ones where I like the "stretch it out" factor are sports games (yes, play the full nine innings or four quarters before deciding I'm the loser).

Also, there's the "67 buttons" problem. A lot of games just use too many buttons for me to be able to play them.
