@guizzy@pleroma@guizzyordi.info As you said, I think they said that masks don't generally cover all most entryways (such as eyes), nor do they filter down to virus-particle size. They do not always fit the face snugly, either. However, I think they were also concerned that people would rush out and buy all the surgical masks before medical personnel could obtain enough for their needs.

Frankly, I thought it would have been better if they were honest enough to say "please save surgical and N95 masks for medical personnel" and leave everyone to scramble for bandanas and handkerchiefs.
