It is 2020. We need to do something better than everyone stay inside whenever there’s a pandemic. I’m going crazy being cramped inside this place. I need to get outside for my own mental health.

My response (which the OP will never see):
Well, unfortunately, until we can create safe and effective vaccines within a few days of an outbreak, the only thing we can do is try not to catch the disease(s), at least not all at the same time. If you’ve seen charts of various cities’ death rates during the 1918 influenza pandemic and when they issued restrictions, it is pretty clear that issuing strict restrictions early pays off in lives saved.
