One car rental place adds a line about ... we’re encouraging employees to wash their hands frequently and stay home when they are sick ... but what I do not see is “with pay” or “without retribution”.

We all know that in low-wage service jobs, the employer’s primary interest is to spend as little as possible on employees. Sick employees often have to come to work because they face loss of income and retribution by management. Tell me that you’re paying employees to take more time to clean, and that they are being paid their full pay if they take sick time ... and that local managers that try to get back at employees who take time off will be immediately fired.
