A zillion years ago, a friend from college did the Ex-Lax diet so she could join the US Army. Once in, she regained the weight and wound up getting kicked out* with a "lose the weight and stay out of trouble and you can come back in a year". Last time I saw her, she was a part-time security guard, renting a room at her sister's house.


* I'm sure that more happened to help them decide to expel her, but that's the only thing she told me about.
