I'd put them all on a flash drive and turn them over, but when you're ready to rehost your site, I know you'll say "You had them and I never got them".

Sigh.

Never spearhead hosting for a family member's project. Always tell them to hire an outsider. If they're paying for it, they'll likely be more active in keeping it up-to-date with fresh content. Make sure you push them to demand copies of the weekly backups [files, software, database, configuration files ... everything in one package] be delivered to them, so when they decide to move, they can give the new person a copy of the existing site to work from.
