It seems strange to me that !go game records have become kind of a weak commodity. It may be because they cost someone's time to watch a game and produce the # or because they're so useful for study... I know that if they're ever sold, unauthorized copies are often distributed. The same goes for # I wonder if I were to watch a game and record it as an SGF if I'd get into any sort of copyright troubles. What if someone else already did that? What if I release it under a # license? Is that something I can even do? Who "owns" the moves played in that game? I know that most tsumego are copywritten and I can't simply transpose them from a book or website into SGFs for distribution.
