I've got some crazy cognitive dissonance sitting in the keynote to the summit for the company that employs me. This is my first gig working for folks who produce end user (non web or infrastructure stuff) desktop software. It's so strange hearing them talk about other companies reverse engineering our code and producing their own versions. It's also uncomfortable hearing about people "pirating" our products. Free Software makes a hell of a lot more sense than this. All this cloak and dagger nonsense is unnecessary. We should be sharing. If money is your end goal, find a better way. Capitalism and proprietary software really bother me and I often feel helpless to do anything about either one.
