@PegFitzpatrick doesn't understand publishing in the Internet age. As @Doctorow says, obscurity is far worse than !copyright infringement. @PegFitzpatrick makes the usual uninformed statement that her content was "taken" by a "content thief", and suggests authors have a "republication policy" on their blogs -- how does this prevent "content theft"? I suspect actual copyright law trumps any "republication policy" - fair use/fair dealing isn't null and void just because of a "republication policy". Granted, some of her examples are blatant copyright infringement. She invokes a DMCA takedown against someone who republished her material with a backlink to the original content (which is how she found the infringement). She writes "had they asked, I would have gladly given them permission to use it with credit", and they subsequently update that post with credit - so why then continue with the takedown? Because punishment. That's copyright bullying, and not at all what copyright is meant for. http://pegfitzpatrick.com/2013/08/12/how-to-protect-your-blog-content/
