Do the courts really believe suppressing research will prevent the bad guys from discovering this flaw? This publication ban has just kept better security out of the hands of citizens, but I'm sure the bad guys have just stepped up their own research efforts. If three scientists can discover a security flaw with only measly research funding, criminal gangs with a vested economic interest can certainly duplicate that research. This isn't just security through obscurity, this is pretend security through willful ignorance. And I'm sure some conscientious whistleblower will leak the research paper anyway.
