@bob yes, sadly completely free distribution as defined by FSFE struggle to have enough contributors. But in general I don't think it is correct to describe Free Software as something which is mostly done by hobbyists in their spare time. The Boston Consulting Group concluded already 2002 that about 40% of all Free Software is developed by paid developers as part of their primary job.
