It's really not easy to have both:
1. Current position remembered (for cases, when you switch between timelines and applications, but want to retain a context of a Timeline)
2. And being able to see most recent messages immediately without long scrolling.

Maybe addition of a special button "Go to the top" would be a good compromise for both needs?!
