    (Just to be clear, I'm keeping the old ones for compatability and just making an entirely new one to supplement it that others can use.)

    @pedro Yes, it used to be a core feature of StatusNet from the looks of the code history, but there's comments in the code that it is insecure and needed fixed, so now it is optional.  Looks like they never got around to fixing it.

    @pedro @oplch Well the current system is something they made optional because there's a lot of security issues with it.  Probably worthwhile to look into making something more secure, but that doesn't help the people who'd be lost when the instance goes down.
