   @takeshitakenji God I hate this trend of hiding errors from the user.  I can understand not making everything go to modal popup error boxes, but you should at least have easily accessible log files to determine how something blew up.

    So it looks like what was happening was Jitsi had an auto-updater it uses on start, that places a lockfile.  If it can't get the lock it just dies, without even an error message, because who needs meaningful feedback for the user?
