@andstatus @gargron @thefaico I can't speak for Mastodon but we can leverage code that already exists in postActiv/GNU social to check for duplicated message by way of checking the message content. We'd just be using the existing rate limiting code for another purpose.
The question becomes how far back we go, and it still is only a bandaid for the fact that the application is sending notices in error. -

I'm being an asshole about this I guess but I honestly don't have a lot of sympathy for a country as a whole who did this to themselves, and they have. For individual friends who I know have struggled against that system, certainly, but not for the country as a whole, whom have been all too happy to draw battle lines and rally behind one of their two possible candidates for Worlds Most Shit Human Being. -

Further woes for Web of Trust after it was pulled from the extension directories at both FF and Chrome for selling users data. I find it really unfortunate the parent company engaged in this because it was a well-implemented, useful service, but my personal information is not for sale so I still would not use it. -
