@gargron @takeshitakenji Are you aware all the messages you (and other mastodon users) send have had the @ sign in the webfinger IDs doubled for a day or two now? -

Anyways, another crisis averted with a less than an hour of downtime, I consider that a win. -

@purplehippo Like everything else in her life since she harassed that kid. It's been one long line of doubling down on crazy and stupid for her since then. -

Or put in more pithy terms, program the things you love and it's never a day of work, program things you don't like and it's going to be Sisyphean a task. -

If you make software YOU want to use, and develop it solid, feature-complete, and stable, the rest will come. You can spend your whole life trying to chase the trends of what others say they want to have though, and you'll never get there. As much as people complain about thing X not having feature Y or Z they like, or doing things weirdly, people usually end … -

@takeshitakenji The problem becomes environments. PHP is ubiquitous and part of pretty much every Linux webserver stack.
Anything else ... isn't. -

@takeshitakenji Once I have the render code proof of concept sorted, I'm going to see about getting @mikael's postgres branch working properly in postActiv with migration code and fixing the MySQL problems adding the postgres support created. -

I think the thing people seem to forget is that there are a LOT of microblogging packages out there. Hubzilla, pump, friendica, OpenWebBlogger, GNU social, mastodon, etc
A lot of people have thought they had the end-all be-all approach that was best. https://community.highlandarrow.com/attachment/10956 -

@takeshitakenji There was work to allow postgres in StatusNet but it stalled when e14n went off to make pump instead -

@takeshitakenji I don't think there's anything that's going to be better and work in a wide variety of environments short of writing a non-scripted server in something like C++, which is itself not desirable for a variety of reasons. -

@takeshitakenji Just another thing to add to the list, making postActiv clean up the queue table. It shouldn't be keeping stuff that old. -

Moving the postActiv instance to a separate VM is non trivial but I think I'll do that once I have the review up tonight. -

@takeshitakenji Queue items older than a day can be "safely" deleted. Deleting any queue items risks data loss, but after a day or so they're obviously not going to be completed anyways. I have a MySQL event set to delete all of them where the "claimed" time exceeds more than a day ago. -

There'll be that period of about 3 hours where there's notices missing in TWKN and other timelines. Nothing for it, I'm afraid. -

@verius I figured out how to do this and still keep the history just now - example:
https://git.postactiv.com/postActiv/SubscriptionThrottle/commits/master
I'm going to do the rest of them except the Sample and the couple that are just stopgaps anyways, after I've had some rest, going on 3am and I haven't slept yet :) -

Okay, now that I know how to do that, I'm going to sleep. I'll do the rest tomorrow! Er, later today I guess!
The only one I'll leave is the Sample plugin, and the Bridge plugins, since they're stopgaps until the federate* plugins are mature.
