   Whew, this # chemistry # NobelPrize seems to have had some non-scientific controversy surrounding it, which the press in the room are pushing on. There was a leak of the press release about 4 hours before the announcement, it seems, before the formal decision would have been made. One of the press seemed concerned about the nationality of one of the recipients. This got spicy.

   Awesome! This year’s # NobelPrize in # Chemistry is awarded for the creation of # QuantumDots ! I loved engaging with students in 3rd semester physics on this subject. It was easy to model a quantum dot using the infinite or finite square well quantum system.    It was a lovely day in # Kingston . I am getting a ton of things done while I am at # QueensUniversity this week, both for @ SNOLAB and for the # PICO and # HALO experiments.    I ahve decided that working from the Teams webapp is a superior user experience than from the desktop app. The former seems to respect system resources while the latter is a devastating scourge on processors and RAM.
