Nice Brewster Angle you have there. Be a shame if anything happened to that polarized light. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/phyopt/polar.html https://twitter.com/drsekula/status/1014552706772623361/video/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/51216 -

Treated to an incredible view of the moon and Mars this morning at 6am on my run. Despite Rayleigh scattering making the sky appear blue, even before sunrise, Mars was SOOOOO red in the sky. If it is not too hot where you live, check it out in the western morning sky. https://twitter.com/drsekula/status/1013883148155981830/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/51194 -

L.A.G. (2018) A physics drama about scientists who never get to work on experiments in their home timezone and are constantly exhausted, jet-lagged, and forgetting what day it is. The drama centers on how they always miss their students' talks. Hilarity ensues. -

Personally, I think we have peak ALL CAPS and that the social web needs to seriously consider bringing blink text back into the mix. -

I am less struck these days by Einstein's fruitless attempts at unified field theory and moreso at the fact that a U.S. newspaper was once unafraid of math. https://twitter.com/APSHistory/status/1011557643209539586 -

Had a wonderful evening out with @SMU alum Barbara and her husband, Alphy. We dined in a small village along Lake Geneva and talked networking, the demands of a life in hotel management, and international science collaboration. Here's to many more collaborations! https://twitter.com/drsekula/status/1010625430246887424/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/51135 -

Quite a week at CERN. Some progress on a hardware/software project; new jet tagging tuning ready to head into production in ATLAS; running a jet tagging performance study on real 2018 data and seeing promising results. Time to head up the lake for a nice dinner!
