   @tuttle Who uses air conditioning? I've run my servers since forever in a super hot basement and they don't seem to care! (the correlation with intense outdoors heat was not a causation)

    quitter.es is experiencing hardware difficulties, it'll hopefully be fixed some day soon.
    
    It seems to be caused by the heat, so blame GLOBAL WARMING. And global warming is caused by capitalism, fossil fuels and your insatiable need to consume new products.
    
    So step back, relax, fix something broken instead of buying a new product.

    @econe I have tried running from a USB stick installing an OS to _another_ harddrive and still experience the issue even with the supposedly faulty one unplugged.

    @mmn Hmm and if I try to install Debian Jessie I get the same error on a completely different machine even if the same drive's not plugged in... (and sort of this error - unannounced shutdowns - started showing up when I updated it to Debian Jessie, but then only during the nightly backups).
    
    So I'm thinking kernel issue. Will try to install Ubuntu, which seems to work on another machine from the same batch.
