   @maiyannah I beg to differ. Most half-finished projects are because it was a spur of the moment project and people wanted to CREATE instead of spend time trying to understand a third party codebase.
   
   I get the sensation that your post could've been written by a jump to conclusion mat. Running and doing one's own stuff doesn't imply one wants to lead etc. etc.

    @tomas I use the key ascii art for comparison. It's pretty quick and easy on the eyes. SSHFP in DNS is also good.

    @gargron public faves of public posts should be public data. If you're doing stuff for non-public federated data where instances blindly trust the remote party to be Good(tm), I just wouldn't encourage it .) (just like I'm not very enthusiastic about RedMatrixZillaWhatever).

    @gargron Yeah you can do what you want, but in my experience federation of public communication requires publicly available data. Privacy is achieved by not being public.
    
    (and trying to achieve privacy in a public medium where the data can be aggregated by anyone since subscription is openly available - just that you're not publishing the aggregation yourself - is just false privacy)

    @gargron I think it's important that activities are available in the activity stream. Maybe to achieve what you want, there could be a verb filter parameter to get rid of unwanted/unsupported verbs?

    @gargron Yeah, but it should have a URI and be presentable as an Atom <entry>, shouldn't it? Afaik, <id> is always required in Atom entries.
    The database is not interesting. The stream should be archivable as Atom and thus be compatible with everything that understands Atom. That is not true if "transient actions" are not in the stream.
