I used to do that on Firefox, yes. But on Chrome, the pinned tab is used for the new link. -

Yes, that's correct. PDF is just a container format; LibreOffice inserts the ODF source as an additional element in the container. -

It also works with .ODP, which is great; after a conference I can send a PDF that people can use as the source of their own slides. -

They are enabled but optional so HTML5-only ought to work. If Flash is present you'll get it, though. -
