Postfix is dead simple. Usually only a couple settings needed. Dovecot can be harder if you need SSL etc. -

Postfix and Dovecot is what I use. That's assuming users can configure a mail client. I don't run a web mail interface. -

I've used lftp for a long time. Very useful. You can also put server info in ~/.netrc and most ftp clients will use it. -
