And to be honest, it won’t directly conserve disk space. Innodb databases don’t usually give back disk space. It will however, reuse that space that the deleted notices gave up before using more disk space. Just in case you run the script and don’t immediately see a smaller db size… -

Well, the ‘notices’ in my query is just giving the count(n.id) a name. In @tony‘s query the `notice` is to call a particular field. When bash scripting it, I’d just leave off the back ticks. Mysql will figure out the proper tables still… -

@jonkulp Ah, yeah the dumped database would be smaller as it doesn’t have that data anymore. The live database won’t get smaller but, it will take a little while before it starts growing again. ;) -

My db stats currently:
queries per hour: 119,942
queries per minute: 1,999
queries per second: 33
That’s a lot of data moving that would also need to rely on SMB or NFS not failing. ;) -
