These sound awesome! I for one, would love to see a VFF for winter wear! Since I live in Minnesota, they'd be my first choice of footwear from November through March. I hope the folks at Vibram are listening...

I want a pair!

I am making do with the leather Trek and the Injinji socks, but some days are just too cold and wet to go that route.

I've thought about using my Flows, but don't think I could get them on over the socks (my ankles need to stay warm too!).

make them with polartec fleece with a DWR and the waterproof factor would be nicely addressed.

Those are too cool! And it makes me wonder what else Vibram has hiding in their basement - their "Island of Misfit Shoes" so to speak...

Sounds like agreat idea! I've been surprised how well I can stand the cold in my KSOs just by wearing more clothing on the rest of my body...

Hi, I really think that in order to get a warm VFF there are certain issues to solve, the sole thickness (will have to lose some ground feeling for sure), water permeability, leather thickness and inner lining.

For me it would be OK if only I could get a VFF warm enough for winter and waterproof, even if the sole is thick and i loose the ground feeling; at least I could keep the other benefit, fingers free and spreading out.

These don't make sense to me. I don't care what the thing is made of, toe separation is a recipie for disaster in the cold for long durations. This is why mittens are always better than gloves - the fingers help keep each other warm. Toe and finger separation act like cooling fins on a motor, and for cold weather, that is a bad thing.

This seems more novelty to me than useful. Perhaps Vibram saw the same thing and that was part of why they nixed it.

We'd pick a pair up if they were available, given how cold it's getting on the east coast. That said, VFF needs to spend time putting together a waterproof variety first, as warm gear isn't adequate when we're confronted with snow, slush, and rain.

wish they were available - i use flows in winter - water proofed with silicone spray and wax - i like the way my toes dig into the snow - they are good for a 15 minute walk to the post office, but not much more - the cold comes in thru the sole - i agree mittens are warmer but its not my toes that feel cold first when wearing toe socks

I've found the KSO's to be surprisingly warm so long as I keep moving... I usually don't even use socks. I've made it a point to go outside barefoot every day as winter approached. (some days just long enough to get the mail) and my feet are conditioned for cold now! for traction, I may use the KSOtreks (I try to keep em nice for "fancy shoes") but usually i just slap on some yaktracks (like bungees with wire wrapped around them -awesome!)

I would wear those all over the place in the winter. Here is Savannah, they'd be perfect. I don't stand around to much no matter what I am doing, and there isn't any puddles I couldn't avoid. If anyone has any idea where I can find these let me know. Normally a 41, but with socks could do a 42.

I checked with Vibram and there is no such model as the Cortina Fivefinger shoe, these are most likely counterfeit.

Man, I wish they would put out a cold-weather shoe. I've been wearing Flows with socks (not easy) and by the end of a 40-minute run, my toes are like little ice balls. I don't want to switch back to conventional shoes to get my runs in over the winter, but I'd like to avoid frostbite!

I like the look of these and as I wear my fingershoes all places these would be nice. As for keeping my toes warm in winter I live in oklahoma. Not to bad a place, good bit of rain and LOTS of slush. Water proof would be great but not a necessity as you can buy water sealers for fabric. But warmth is an easy fix, hello people I've been wearing toe socks since the 90's. Japan makes em in wool, silk and even Bamboo. Just cruise the web for them and you can find some. Or if your lucky like me you have friends in Japan who are willing to ship some if you pay for them. Good luck and great running!
