@cmhobbs Why is it bad to rewrite HTTP to HTTPS? If the server operator doesn't want to divulge the transactions to !Surveillance agencies, is it better to Error403 regular HTTP connections? How is rewriting HTTP to HTTPS any worse than other URL rewriting?

While the article says that all government-sponsored !crypto is likely compromised, one of the commenters points out that any encryption, even if compromised, makes it more difficult to perform !surveillance. http://recentr.com/2014/06/auch-der-neue-hype-um-verschlusselung-ist-ein-schuss-den-ofen/ (I read this through Google Translate, so some subleties may have escaped me)
