@mmn, #MySQL is annoying in *lots* of ways. For an open-source project of its age + mindshare, it's a pile of shit. I'd use the unicode emoji char for that, but I'm using MySQL and its "utf8" implementation is unable to store most #unicode characters.

@jpope, I'm more of a #PostgreSQL guy, but it looks like #MySQL has "ALTER TABLE tbl_name ENGINE=INNODB" as an analog to Postgres' "VACUUM FULL", which releases disk-space to the OS.
