@storm I think #MediaGoblin "paused" their federation effort to focus on #ActivityPub. I don't expect there to have been much development since then. -

@weerosie The extremely, charmingly, buggy https://quit.im/ service (which federates with all of !GNUsocial)
Otherwise an #ownCloud or #MediaGoblin instance is great for uploading, archiving and storing, then you can either link to or embed from those places wherever you want to share the photos.
Don't Instagram horribly ruin, compress and otherwise mangle uploaded images? Not really a good way to share, eh. -
